Reflexology is suitable for most people but there may be times when it is not suitable. In some circumstances the permission of a GP or consultant may be required before treatment starts.I normally will have a discussion with you when booking to check any contra-indications (anything which would prevent treatment). Reflexologists do not claim to diagnose, prescribe or cure and it should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.
At the start of your first treatment I will spend 15 minutes doing an initial consultation, so please allow 1 hour 15 minutes for your first session. This will enable me to find out about you, your lifestyle, your overall health and any medical conditions, as well as answer any questions you may have. I will then tailor a treatment to suit your individual needs to help optimise the benfits you will gain from the treatment.
After removal of your socks and shoes, you will then lie back in my comfortable reclining reflexology chair and your feet will be cleansed and refreshed. I will then carry out a relaxing foot massage, moving into the reflexology treatmentwhere I work over all the reflexology points on the feet using my fingers, thumbs and hands, getting a picture of any imbalances and working on these where needed with gentle pressure. Clients may feed back on tender points during the treatment but generally they report feeling very relaxed and many doze or fall asleep.
I have worked on clients who have had this concern and I adapt my technique accordingly; everyone so far has managed a full treatment!
